This feature documentary was made over three years by a group of close friends supported by generous colleagues to whom we are indebted. In particular Justice Methula & the children of Mkhaya, Sihle Dlamini and his Majesty King Mswati’s office, the United Nations World Food Programme and & Food and Agriculture Organisation in Swaziland, as well as the teams at Molinare Post Production and Pixeco Design in London. Beadie Finzi - Director
Beadie Finzi has been working as a filmmaker in documentaries since 1994. She produced her first feature doc ‘Unknown White Male’ in 2005 which told the story of a young amnesiac rediscovering his life. The film was selected for Sundance and the Oscars Shortlist in 2006. Beadie is now in post production with ‘Vida Ballet’ made with Tiger Lilly Films, which charts the story of two young kids trying to dance their way out of the favelas of Rio. Beadie is one of the founding directors of the Channel 4 BRITDOC Foundation, a grant giving body which invests in British independent documentary filmmakers.
Jess Search – Executive Producer
Jess has Executive Produced a number of award winning British documentaries including ‘Unknown White Male’, We are Together’ and ‘Black Gold’. After five years as a Commissioning Editor in the documentaries department at Channel 4 television, Jess left to set up the Channel 4 British Documentary Film Foundation, Britain’s first documentary foundation and organiser of the annual BRITDOC festival. Jess is also the co-founder of Shooting People, an innovative online filmmakers community that is very active in the UK and in New York.
Iris Maor – Producer
Iris started her career as a news producer and has been working in television for over fifteen years. Her experience ranges from youth and music programmes to current affairs and documentaries. She has overseen the production of dozens of documentaries for all major broadcasters as well as international co-productions. Iris is also guest lecturer in production at Goldsmiths College as well as a production consultant for Channel 4.
Jessica Edwards – Producer & sound
Jessica has been working in documentaries and factual programming for thirteen years, working for UK terrestrial broadcasters and on a number of international co-productions. Jessica is a Session Producer at Britdoc and is increasingly developing and directing her own projects.
Jon Sayers – Director of Photography
Jon has worked on a range of documentary films including the Grierson Award winning series, ‘Russian Godfathers’ in 2006 and the BAFTA and Grierson Award winning series, ‘The National Trust’ in 2004.
Nick Fenton – Editor
Nick is an accomplished editor, having cut the multi-award winning documentary ‘The Boy whose Skin Fell Off’ for Channel 4, ‘Alexis Arquette: She’s my Brother’ for Channel 4 and A&E Networks and most recently, ‘Heima’, a feature documentary about Sigur Ros’ return to Iceland.
